Superfast Automatic
Chopard recently unveiled three new models in its “Classic Racing”
collection, each with a new in-house, COSC-certified caliber made at the
company’s Fleurier Ebauches workshops. This is significant because
these are the first watches in the racing collection with movements
entirely designed, developed and assembled in-house. And it is
consistent with Chopard’s well known desire to further vertically
integrate and thus ensure its long term independence. I’m not going to
get into particulars right now, but suffice it to say that the movements
look superb. A great aesthetic to them — partially openworked, very
sporty, very much in-line with the racing theme — Chopard did an
excellent job on this. Video and a few more looks, below.
Right now all cases are in rose gold, 45mm, but rest assured steel
and possibly white gold or titanium cases will be offered before long.
The strap is nicely integrated with the case, and unlike the tire-tread
strap seen on the Mille Miglia and others, this strap has a slick racing
tire design.

The sides are engraved with a linear
pattern evoking the cooling systems on classic cars; this motif is
echoed on the dial. The rectangular chronograph pushers are
rubber-coated; the black screw-down crown bears the Classic Racing
collection’s signature steering wheel motif.
Chopard Superfast Power Control
Of course, the new calibers are visible
through the caseback — Chopard provides what it calls “arena” style
see-through caseback — looks great:

In my view the Chronograph is the hands-down star of the bunch! All three are available for purchase today at Chopard’s new e-boutique.
