Corum Golden Bridge Tourbillon Panoramique

60° visibility, flying tourbillon…

Here’s a first look at Corum’s new Golden Bridge Tourbillon Panoramique.  Featuring 360° visibility, as if suspended weightless at the center of the case by a sapphire mainplate and bridges, this openworked, translucent movement is further accentuated with a “flying” tourbillon:  freed from an upper bridge, it appears to be levitating above the movement.

Corum Golden Bridge Tourbillon Panoramique

38mm x 56mm tonneau-shape red gold case, manual wind Corum caliber (90 hrs, sapphire crystal plate and bridges)

The handwound Corm Caliber CO100 has mainplate and bridges made of sapphire.  Now an recognized signature of the Corum brand and fine watchmaking in general, the baguette movement beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and has a 90-hour power reserve.  The Caliber CO100 is equipped also with a highly distinctive tourbillon — Corum has opted here for a so-called “flying” tourbillon, meaning that is has no upper fastening point.   Thus the entire device, adorned with a finely engraved Corum key, is held to the sapphire mainplate by its base alone.  This visual effect is compelling.

The new Corum Golden Bridge Tourbillon Panoramique is being offered in three variations, all limited editions: 10 pieces in red gold, 5 pieces with a baguette-set red gold case; and 5 with an 18kt red gold case set with round diamonds.  Each version is delivered with two hand-sewn crocodile leather straps – one black, the other brown – secured by an 18kt red gold triple folding clasp engraved with the Corum logo.  Price TBD.
